Here is a pictoral look at the lovely success she has had along the way. She started early! Here is Melanie in 1985 with "Widget", who grew up to become Ch. Ocoee Oblique. Winning Best Junior Handler with Ch. Ocoee Sure Thing CD WC from the Open Junior Class in 1987. With "Roxanne", (Ch. Roving Roulette, F.Ch.) winning one of their many Hound group firsts, in 1990. Mel and Roxanne also won Best of Breed at the American Whippet Club National Specialty when Melanie was only 13 years old! Melanie and "Blu" (Ch. Ailne Rhapsody in Blue). Together they won eight all-breed Bests in Show. "Blu" was a Top Ten Hound and was Best of Breed and Group 3rd at Westminster Kennel Club in 1993. He was handled exclusively by Melanie throughout his career. Every Junior Handler's dream-winning Best Junior at Westminster Kennel Club in 1994, with her "partner", Ch. Sihouette Special Effects. New Champion Wil-Orion McD's In A Heartbeat, finished in 2004 with four majors. Emma was also Best In Sweepstakes at Chattahoochee in January. This is new Ch. Nieohn's Hope Set High. She is Roxanne's granddaughter, and Melanie finished her in 2004 with all her points from the Bred By Exhibitor Class. Ch. Mystic's Tartan, TD. "Kilts" was owned by our late friend Dr. Cindy Wheeler. Melanie finished Kilts in 2003 with four majors and a Best of Breed over five specials. 2004 New Ch. Foxboro In The Know. "Devon" went to Melanie's with 10 points and in only four shows he was a new CH! 2004 New Ch. Shelley's Tudor Rose. "Caroline" was handled exclusively by Melanie and finished with FIVE majors. She is owned by Melanie, Kathy and her breeder, the late Anita Wheeler. 2005 New Champion Legendary Elegance. "Nicole", bred by Liz Kiener and Melanie King and owned by Liz and Dave Kiener, is pictured finishing her title with a third major, BW and BOS over a Special. 2007 New Ch. Ocoee Absolute Possession, finished from the BBE Class with all majors (4-4-4-5) including BW at the CESSCGA Specialty. 2007 New Ch. Wil-Orion's Illusion, owned by Corrine Johnson and Janice and Erica Johnson. Melanie handled Spirit to the majority of her points including two majors and a BB over four specials. New CH in 2009! Ch. Shelley Ashwyn Spellbender, Ben was RWD from the 6-9 puppy class at CESSCGA and finished with three majors including a BB over Specials. He is owned by Karen Maurey. 2008 Shelley's Berwick Reflection. Melanie has quickly put two majors and a Best of Breed over four Specials on Molly for her owner Paula Lynch. 2008 New Ch. Cedarwood's Classic Rendition. Melanie handled Waylon to the majority of his points including three majors and two wins over multiple specials. He is owned by Cathy Walther and Pat Welch. 2008 our own DSQD Ocoee All Lit Up has been shown four times in Open and already has two majors. Now Andi is going to go to some Specialties. Melanie is pictured to the left in 1991 with her very favorite of all the Springers, "Bubble" (Ch. Shinnecock Optimum Tribute). Mel and Bubble were best friends and bed partners while Melanie was growing up. On the right is Melanie practicing with an upcoming hopeful! Melanie has a small private kennel on a lovely piece of property south of Atlanta, Ga. The kennel has large indoor/outdoor runs and the dogs have outdoor access at all times. Surrounding the kennel is an acre and a half fenced yard where all the dogs are turned loose to frolic every day.
